Our philosophy

It is our goal to seek solutions that are in alignment with their context and we believe that the best solutions are quite often the simplest. Heat, cold and power are fundamental needs of humans and we attach great importance to providing them on a sustainable and environmentally friendly basis. We are a part of our environment and, as such, are in constant interaction with and dependant on it. This planet is our home and it is our responsibility to preserve it and leave it as a better place than we found it.

How we see ourselves

The strength of our dedicated and dynamic team is the combination of solid expertise in mechanical engineering and 'thinking outside the square', leading to innovative solutions and products. We are enthusiastic about what we are doing and we attach great importance to the quality of our work. Our clients' needs are important to us and we don't deliver anything that is below our own high standard. We understand that time is money and that a good design addresses a number of different aspects such as cost, ease of operation, maintenance requirements, reliability, longevity and efficiency. We also understand that a system comprises more than the sum of its components.

The company

TS-dot Engineering Limited was founded by Michael Gschwendtner in 2010 and is based in Auckland, New Zealand. Michael has a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on theory and research from the Technical University in Munich, Germany, and a PhD from the University of the Federal Armed Forces of Germany in Munich. His doctoral research was on the experimental investigation of the Eckert number phenomenon - a peculiar heat transfer situation occurring at high rotational speeds of a heated cylinder in a cross-flow - involving a number of optical measuring techniques. The subsequent ten years of intense Stirling cycle research at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, have led to a comprehensive understanding of how Stirling machines operate and what their peculiarities are in terms of design, performance, cost, and reliability. This research phase has created a wealth of experience and has formed a worldwide network of clients and partners.
